Apply for an Internship
Ready to apply? It’s easy!
Step 1. Make sure you’ve read the Conservation Internship Guidelines for complete details on the internship program, including lodging, work schedule, application process and, cost.
Step 2. Select an internship from the current list of Internship Opportunities! Tell us when you want to come, by selecting a FIRST and SECOND choice from the many 4-10 week sessions shown on the 2019 Session Calendar.
Step 3. Fill out the online application form! Note that your application will not be reviewed until you’ve also paid the $25 application fee, either by check to our U.S. office or online through Network for Good (for applicants outside the US, use PayPal.**
Step 4. Fill out Part I of the Intern Agreement form and send it to Ceiba. The on-site supervisor of your internship will fill out Part II of the form that specifies the responsibilities and objectives of your internship, and send it back to you for review. You may apply and receive your initial acceptance before your internship agreement is finalized, however the agreement form must be signed by both you and your supervisor before Ceiba will issue a final acceptance for your internship.
Notification of Acceptance: Please allow 2-3 weeks after applying to receive your initial acceptance. Final acceptance is granted once the Internship agreement has been signed by you and your supervisor (see below). You may contact us to check on the status of you application.
Earning Academic Credit
Ceiba partners with the University of Wisconsin – Madison to offer academic credit for our 8-week summer internships only. If you want to earn UW Madison credit, you must apply though UW Madison International Academic Programs. Those enrolled in other universities who wish to receive credit must arrange this with their adviser at their home institution. Note that certain additional academic requirements may need to be met to receive credit.
**Network For Good is like PayPal for nonprofits, and charges 5% in fees. If you elect to pay online, please indicate the purpose of the payment, check the box to add the 5% service charge, and fill in all contact information.
Preparing To Go
Please read the internship guidelines before you apply so you know what to expect from your internship experience. Once you are accepted you will receive additional materials to help you prepare for your trip. This may include reading material, travel recommendations, a list of what to bring, and other pertinent information. Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel to Ecuador and to their internship site by the start date.
